For many years “Lo” worked as an art creative director both in advertising and fashion. His first encounter with bamboo was totally circumstantial. In 1998 while working on an interior-design project, he decided to cut and use some bamboos, which were growing at his mother's garden, in order to plan the spaces. It was “love at first sight”. Since then, bamboo becomes his obsession. “Lo” would spend his day working in advertising but every night, he would spend hours dedicated to his “bamboo hobby”: testing the material, checking its possibilities, reading books and learning about the different species, its properties and techniques. It became a passion that drove the artist to change his life and to set up on his first trip to the bamboo countries looking for bamboo’s true essence.

From 2004 -2013, “Lo” visited Southeast (Asia). During the trip he wanted to find bamboo’s inner essence. His first port-of-call was Delhi, where he attended the “World Bamboo Congress” and met bamboo’s architect Simon Velez and Oscar Hidalgo. From there he travelled to remote areas of Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Indonesia where for many communities bamboo is still the main resource. Living with those he explored its particular properties and learnt of its old techniques and traditions, as well as the different uses and craftsmanship, together with the strong emotional and spiritual links. Mostly importantly, “Lo” has finally integrated bamboo’s emotional charge, his creativity and architectural dimension, discovering the fusion of traditional techniques with contemporary architecture.

La Bambouseraie in Cévennes (France) is the artist’s main source of bamboo. Its great diversity, together with the high quality of these bamboos have resulted in a special relationship between the artists and La Bambouseraie. Together with Muriel Nègre and his team “Lo” selects and cuts those pieces which will then be the main elements of his artistic work.
From 2004 “Lo” spends his time between his house- workshop in the Alt Empordà (Girona, Spain) and traveling to he bamboo countries. His workshop is an old factory which the artists himself has restored, and adapted to develop his art. Inside, against the walls, over the beams, one can see the different pieces of bamboo. Art pieces in every shape and size, in its different stages, hung form the high ceiling. The outside space around the factory is used to dry the different pieces, where each of them acquires its patina and final shape.

His artistic palette is within the physical and sensorial virtues of bamboo: its very sophisticated organic structure, but also its energy as well as its spirituality. Establishing an intimate dialogue with bamboo, the artists experiments its flexibility, resistance, density, lightness, mathematics and poetry, a language that allows him to combine both tension and compression, creating sculptures based on movement and balance. His work seems to defy gravity and levitate. His structures swing, drawing curves and harmony in the air.

The artist tells about a fragile harmony: flexibility and strength, fullness and void, light and shadow, movement and quietness. It encourages u to look for calm, serenity and the balance in his artworks.
